5-5-97--Robert D. Dunkin, Sr., Kimball, Nebraska 69145, The United
States of America, tinker@megavision.com, Comments:
We moved to Kimball from Wyoming to start the machine shop program in the high school
here. I brought with me my wife-Beverly, our three children--Robert, Jr., Carol, and
Patty. Our fourth, and last, Laurie, was born here in Kimball. Moving from the mountains
to the a place where it is sort of flat was quite a change for us. I kind of thought we
would get the program up and running pretty well and then we would move back to Wyoming or
maybe somewhere else where we would be closer to the mountains. In the meantime we became
"hung up", so to speak with the people and the community. We also got involved
in business. Guess what I am trying to say is, we became attached to the people, the town,
the countryside. and everything else around here.
I retired from teaching in1990 and we bought the NAPA franchise from the Pattersons. We
sold the business in 1995, but we still own the Phillips 66 station on the Interstate. In
June of this year we will have lived in Kimball 28 years. Three of our four children also
make their home here.
I think it would be safe for us to say that Kimball , Nebraska is our home now.
