The Kimball Area Foundation is a 501c-3-status foundation. There is
a board of directors controlling KAF, of which consists of a
generous cross-section of Kimball, including the surrounding areas.
There are approximately twelve current board members, with the
executive board as follows;
President- Dr. Doug McConnell
Vice-President- Will Brown
Secretary- Larissa Thomas
Treasurer- Derek Thomas
Included within the board of directors are individuals representing
other non-profit entities to include the hospital foundation, the
senior citizen foundation, and the historical society foundation.
Banner County and the Dix community are additionally represented.
All are interested in seeing this corner of Nebraska prosper, to
include projects which would benefit all that currently live here,
and those who would be interested in moving to the area. The KAF
board is quite excited in providing a way for people of these
communities to be able to give back to this area if they choose in
whatever way is possible and convenient. Grants will vigorously be
sought after for community projects and services. Historically, many
people currently living in rural areas pass on their wealth and
assets, of which ultimately leaves the area, and have expressed
numerous times that they didn’t know these foundations were
available. Each donor has the unique opportunity to donate to some
project of their choice, or have the board select, and or advise
what is currently in the works for the area communities.
It is estimated that in Kimball County alone during the next ten
years, there will be approximately 55 million dollars worth of
assets change hands from one generation to the next. Approximately
40 million of that is in real property, and the remaining is in
other assets. Our affiliation with Nebraska Communities Foundation
empowers KAF with the expertise to manage acquired land and or
buildings if that should happen, to include monies. Additionally the
board wanted to make the distinction for possible contributors that
should they be adamant that KAF handle their contribution, there was
a need to accommodate them. This current board will be quite active
in pursuing avenues available to them to bring revenue to this area,
and offer even more to prospective new residents. Two immediate
areas that we wish to pursue are: One, to bring to Kimball the
Nebraska Communities Foundation estate planners, and update our
lawyers, bankers, and anyone else interested in such, on estate
planning. Two, educate the board members on how to converse with the
public on an individual basis to provoke thoughts and suggestions.
